The Mad Cars & Trucks Of “Mad Max: Fury Road”

Mad Max is one of the most famous franchises of science-fiction movies. From the first and original Mad Max (1979) through Mad Max: The Road Warrior (1981) and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985). These movies are full of unforgettable action and driving scenes taking place in a brutal future, filled with rigid and weird-looking beasts made from the left-overs of the civilization.

Thirty years after the last addition to the franchise, George Miller has launched the long-rumoured and long-delayed Mad Max: Fury Road. The latest movie of post-apocalyptic insanity stars Tom Hardy as Max and Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa. Aside from the incredible story and the amazing wilderness, the cars and trucks in this movie are really something special.

Let’s check out some of the best Mad cars and trucks of Mad Max: Fury Road.

  • The War Rig

Just like in Mad Max: The Road Warrior, the War Rig is one of the main vehicles in Fury Road. This gigantic 18-wheeler is bigger than any other truck in the movie and it is definitely something you have never seen, as most of the things in Fury Road. Powered by two V8 engines and three customized cabins, one can never get bored of watching the War Rig in action.

  • Interceptor

The Interceptor is the iconic vehicle of the Mad Max franchise and it belongs to Max. This modified 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT has been featured in any of the Mad Max movies and was first used as a police vehicle for chasing bad guys. Then Max used it to escape from the bad guys who wanted to take it from him for gasoline. The Interceptor is very important for the movie, so the director has made sure it is available in Fury Road, although it is left to rot in a glorious way.

  • The Big Foot

The Big Foot is also one of the best vehicles in the movie. This monster truck is made from a 1939 or 1940 Dodge pick up truck, only with a triple of the size of its tires and some weaponry. Using 1.67-meter-tall Goodyear tires and a 1.2-meter of suspension travel, this monster uses a supercharged V8 turning a Turbo 400 automatic transmission system. The Big Foot’s gigantic axles are taken from a military tanker.

  • The Plymouth Rock

This beast of a car has been built from an old model of a 1937 Plymouth sedan. It is like a porcupine on wheels and is used to travel in wasteland looking for corpses of dead animals to consume and re-purpose. Since the tribes were allowed to use the rustiest of available materials for this vehicle, the Plymouth Rock is definitely one of the most bad-ass cars in the movie.

  • Mack

Australia is a country that largely depends on large trucks for moving materials and products, so big truck are widely available in Australia. Mack, one of the most popular truck brands, has been featured in the Mad Max series with the Mack R-series of trucks. In The Road Warrior, the Mack R-series tractor-tanker is an important part, while in the Fury Road, the Mack R-series wrecker is used to trail the action and scavenge the battlefield for scrap and usable equipment.
